    • Lawyers are on a mission to protect human rights, materialize social justice, and promote democratic rule.

Attorneys at Iustitia Law Firm have long contributed to the human rights protection of women, children, and socially vulnerable groups. We have helped advance the amendment of the Protection of Children and Youths’ Welfare and Rights Act and the legislation of Domestic Violence Prevention Act. Our Firm helped found the Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation. We act as the chairman of its board of directors, actively rescue and place victimized child prostitutes and help married victims of domestic violence, litigate for victims and provide pro bono services to fight for their freedom and relieve their suffering.

One of our Firm’s attorneys has been the foremost spokesperson and defenders of the comfort women in Taiwan. We have long studied the historical background, international and social factors, the victims’ life stories, and the particulars of the damaging acts of this issue. With regular participation in conferences for international collaboration for comfort women, we have demanded that the Japanese government apologize and indemnify. Our Firm represented Taiwan to attend committee meetings of the United Nations Human Rights Council and conferred with Special Rapporteur of the council to seek a way to demand recompense from the Japanese government. We acted as the agent for Taiwanese comfort women to file civil suits against the Japanese government for damages at Tokyo District Court, Tokyo High Court, and the Supreme Court of Japan. In the International Court on War Crimes against Women, held in 2000 in Tokyo, an Iustitia Law Firm attorney was the head of the Taiwanese delegation as well as the chief of the prosecutors. He wrote the indictment and participated in the investigation and argument about the evidence in the trial of cases in the International Court of Justice. At the end of the trial, our attorneys held a press conference for international journalists to disclose the wrongs that had been done by the Japanese to the Taiwanese comfort women.

The President, starting in 2000 for five consecutive years, appointed our attorney to the Human Rights Advisory Committee under the Presidential Office to help the President in significant human rights issues, draft bills to protect human rights, act as a special envoy for human rights, and attend the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

Iustitia Law Firm has long sponsored and supported the Childhood Burn Foundation of the Republic of China, the Tripod Care Education Foundation, Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation, and Greenpeace. We have organized and established projects that have provided hope and helped underprivileged children in elementary and middle schools in the town of Datang, Laibin, Guangxi Province, China.
